Are the Tools Working?

What is a tool?

The dictionary offers the definition: Anything used as a means of accomplishing a task or purpose.

Note the key word in this definition, “used”.  Is the hammer sitting on the shelf a tool?  Or does it become one as soon as it is put to use?

The chimpanzee uses a stick to fish termites out of the ground for a tasty snack.  It is most definitely a tool used for a specific purpose, but surely when lying on the ground it is merely a stick.

We have been given many working tools during our journeys as masons.  When is the last time you picked one up?

Time to make sure these items are more than ideas, put them to use and turn them into tools.
